The Beatles version worked cos of its dreamy atmosphere, Lennon sounded so relaxed that you could believe that nothings gonna change his world, whereas Bowie shouts as if he doesn't believe the words hes singing.

Screaming the words doesn't make it so. Bowie really f'ed up a beautiful song. Hard to believe Lennon approved of this and performed on it. Shows what a coked out time they both were having.
