I'll admit that this song verges on self-indulgence, with its stream-of-consciousness flow of thoughts and it's liberal use of profanity: "the shit just fucks you up." I love the moments at the start of verses when Ryan Adams's voice hangs in the air before the band kicks in: "Eeeeeevery night I read this novel..." And the sound effect of glass hitting the floor is a nice touch, though perhaps a little literal.
