It's hard for me to imagine Emmylou Harris screwing up a Merle Haggard cover, and she certainly doesn't disappoint. This version has special resonance knowing that Emmylou was grieving Gram Parsons' death when she recorded it. A high-spirited yet ultimately sad version of a great song.
