As this album is dedicated to Martin Luther King Jr., Promise of the Sun is more than just a beautiful track with immaculate feel. The main motif of the track feels like traditional jazz melting in front of you.

Promise of the Sun is not only an acknowledgment of the 60’s coming to a frustrating and terrifying end, but it also serves as a major hinting to the musical barriers Herbie was further destined to break in the immediate years to come.

One of my favorite Herbie tracks. An interesting aura bathed in unease but exceptionally beautiful nonetheless. As well, an OUTSTANDING closer.
