"Lullaby" is a very strong and original song. The line of approach offers numerous possibilities and Smith chooses the most exciting to work out the song. Apparently the track is playful and entertaining and the danger and the threat are obscured. The guitars in the intro sound sublime and the strings that build an instrumental chorus (note the subtle, delaying effect on those strings. Sublime!) are a delight to listen to. In terms of arrangement, Smith opts for simplicity, and that makes the song a little bit out of the ordinary on the album. But who will regret that?
