Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist is rated in the top 1% of all artists on BestEverAlbums.com. This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 85.1/100, a mean average of 84.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 85.4/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 12.2.

Great band that was very prolific throughout the 1980s which produced great albums like Pornography, Head on the Door, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me and Disintegration. They started off the 90s strong with Wish and Burn from the Crow Soundtrack before they took some time off and the music scene changed radically. The band was not afraid to experiment musically and definitely had their own iconic style.
I have all the studio albums, a few 'live' & best of albums and have had the pleasure of seeing them in concert in Sydney - 2007 and 2016. I would rate the 2016 concert as one of my favourite concerts of all time...and although I came to The Cure late (2005), I regard this band as one the finest of the latter part of the 20th century. I have even requested the song "Treasure" off Wild Mood Swings to be played at my funeral - the line 'remember me and smile' is brilliant - Robert Smith at his best.

In just the last year I've become a Cure fan, I'm not sure how I missed them. I'm a chick from the '80's, I got hooked on metal music. My husband was listening to the Disintegration album one night, and I said I love that music ! and then we listened to Cureation and the song Want came on and I've been hooked on the Cure ever since!!

Watched their superb live set at Glastonbury via my television. BBC showed it. It was a good set. Robert got emotional. I agree that they are one of the best live acts around. I saw them once - on the Wish tour in 1992. I was 16 or 17. Blew me away. Still the best gig I have ever been to.

Seen them live last week, and now that I’ve regained my senses I have to say something about The Cure. Since I’m better at lists than writing in English, here’s my favourite albums:
1. Disintegration (first three are VERY close)
2. Pornography (the highest highs, but not as consistent)
3. Wish (severely underrated, their most diverse)
4. The Head On The Door (perfect pop album?)
5. Seventeen Seconds (a course in how to make an album)
6. Faith (I feel bad for putting it this low)
7. Three Imaginary Boys / Boys Don’t Cry
8. Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me
9. Bloodflowers
10. Wild Mood Swings
11. The Top
12. 4:13 Dream
13.The Cure
Japanese Whispers and Standing On The Beach would probably rank somewhere around Three Imaginary Boys. Also a shoutout to their many incredible live albums, some of which would rank pretty high if I were to include them.
And as an addition my fave songs
1. From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea
2. A Strange Day (possibly the most unsettling guitar riff ever)
3. Open
4. The Same Deep Water As You
5. Cold
6. Plainsong
7. Prayers For Rain
8. All Cats Are Grey
9. Boys Don’t Cry, Lullaby, In Between Days (shoutout to their many amazing hits, these are my favs right now)
10. The Final Sound / A Forest (cause you’re not a fan if you don’t have Forest in top 10)
One of the best bands that I’ve ever heard both live and in studio, hands down.

An ethereal, scintillating, truly magical band. There isn't a single record they've released that doesn't linger in your mind and capture in some way that other artists just don't seem to be able to do. The depth and variety of their back catalogue is testament to just how accomplished their sound is.
One of the God-Tier artists of the Alternative genre, and an absolute pinnacle of gothic rock and post-punk. Look no further for the most heartbreakingly brilliant music around.

Am I the only one who noticed that some Cure albums are underrated here? "Pornography" is considered to be a masterpiece by other music communities, while "Faith" and "Seventeen Seconds" should have definitely been rated at least 80 or above.

After the Beatles and Pink Floyd they are my favourite band, and certainly my favourite band of the 80s and beyond (ok they started in the late 70s). They are the best band to emerge from the post-punk scene. They are also awesome live - they are famous for their long sets and great live sound. Robert Smith is a genius and just like the character said on the famous Mecha-Streisand episode of South Park- "Disintegration is the best album ever!!!!"
Didn't know I loved Gothic Rock so much before The Cure.
