I swear I could write a whole freaking essay about this song. The first half is upbeat and catchy and makes me want to dance. Then at the bridge I always find myself in tears. That segment's hopeless lyrics are so emotionally potent. And then by the end I feel like dancing again. The rapid reversal of emotion does sound volatile and unpleasant, but this song manages to do it seamlessly, and it's incredibly satisfying. Just a masterpiece.
