The Genesis is the best intro to a rap album I've ever heard. It might even make my top 5 tracks on the album.

I agree,I used to skip straight to NYSOM but I love 'The Genesis' now.I think it sets up the rest of the album in a way that I've yet to hear bettered or emulated.

"you're sitting at home doing this shit? you should be earning a medal for this. stop fucking around and be a man. there ain't nothing out here for you. yes, there is; this." great sample, and then that bass. plus it mentions philly blunts and hennessy, and the album title. I'd say it's a great intro.

my ranking of Illmatic songs:
Memory Lane (Sittin in Da Park)
Life's A Bitch
N.Y. State of Mind
Represent
The World Is Yours
One Love
The Genesis
(????)
profit

yeah, I like The Genesis

Well thank you all very much for your input, the world's banking structure will probably be a pile of dust by the time I get round to downloading all your suggestions.
Puncture Repair you loaded the deck by having a picture of Mr Berninger as your (avatar?), that was always going to get my attention. I think my first download from all these suggestions will be The Antlers' Hospice. I got Burst Apart earlier this year through my bank account and love it so am eager to hear more.
Swedenman, it's the Natwest but I may have misled you using the word free, I'm one of those suckers who pays for his bank account but for my £8 I get 5 downloads, 3 movie rentals, phone insurance etc. so I reckon it's worth it. Not sure if you get similar thing in the US but it's worth checking if you use the perks.
Patman360, great suggestions, too good really as I already have all 7 of the albums you recommended.
And I already have Illmatic so you guys can stop wailing on Lethalnezzle.
Love to you all and thank you again for all your time and effort.
