Metal Machine Music... certainly the most interesting thing Reed has ever released... and I mean this is Lou Reed we're talking about. Two sides of nothing but guitar feedback and varying degrees of noise, this album is widely regarded as the biggest failure of Reed's career, assuming that the whole thing isn't just some massive joke. Anyway, to paraphrase the question most people ask when hearing this album: "WTF am I listening to?" So let's all try to answer that What do you see MMM as? Reed's attempt to get booted from his major label contract? A misunderstood masterpiece? Something else entirely?
