What do you look for in music?

So anyways, I was thinking to myself a while back, when I listen to music, what do I like about it? I never asked myself this previously. When listening to music, I generally look for a calm sounding album that possibly has a depressed sound about it. Something I could fall asleep to because it puts me in such a calm mood. I also look for music that's possibly catchy, but not trying too hard to act like it is something that it isn't. Other times I look for music that parodies or just makes fun of other music. it really depends, but I don't listen to music just because of it's sound. The lyrics also make a difference too. Anyways, what do you look for in music?

emotion, awesome riffs, good lyrics and decent vocals. I actually prefer vocalists who haven't got great voices.

I kind of feel that way about Jeff Buckley. Not bad, but his voice is just... too good.
