I've been on several forums with much bigger avatars than here, and they always look a mess to me. I think the current size is fine, though if they decide to make it bigger, I pray they only do it by a tiny amount.

I kinda like the 80x80 p limit to the avatars but i think you could increase it to 100x100 without noticeably cluttering the forums.
Maybe having a bigger version of the avatar on users profile pages would be a good idea?

I haven't been here that long, but I think 100x100 pixels is pretty standard. It allows for personalization but not so much that people are blatantly promoting themselves. 100xx works on other sites, I really think it could work here.

I'm all for larger avatars. ATM the site leaves, when the window is maximized, 300 pixels on each side unused.
