Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).

Man, I need to give Hey What a relisten to transcend to a different plane. Phenomenal record. Also that Injury Reserve record was something else. Might have to up my grade to a potential 100. God 2021 continues to slap. And there is still a few months left. (Edited)

wow this chart changes so quickly, I need to come here more often, of course i'm not going to beat the diamond comment that Brandon made but I will say some things. okay I spend a big time reading all the top 30 notes and wow, I mean they are amazing! I love the way you describe the album,Seems like you are describing a little sound by little sound almost everything is noted there, and I will take some of your adjectives because I'm in a lack of creativity lately, so I'm stealing lol.... amazing chart, it will go to my favs.

This is probably my problem with my chart and people don't like my honesty... hehe... I just have a hard time putting an album on "best ever" list if it is just a cool find or excitingly different album, if I don't find it to be the best/favorite.
But then again that's probably why your lists are so diverse and crossing so many genres, decades, etc.
Good job on the eclectic lists!

Ha. Ok ill give you the 5% bump, cause your an alright guy. I liked the AA Bondy rec too. didn't blow me away, but definitely a solid singer/songwriter album that is deserving of a few more spins. Cheers, bud.
Have you ever listened to Deer Tick? Similar vocal style as Tallest Man. I've seen them live a handful of times and they're a blast. I'd start at their first (war elephant) and go from there.
