- Post subject: The last post I make on BEA
|
... won't be this one But there will be a last post one day. There will for everyone. Let me explain.
There will come a time when you make a post here. After that one you will never post again. You'll be busy with other things or move on to something else in life. I mean, you are very likely not going to be posting here come 2100... a lot of faces here will have left by 2020. So in a way, you are destined to make a final post on here.
And BEA... I wish we are barely out of the prologue in the BEA story. I hope we have many decades ahead for this place. There likely won't be a BEA in the year 2500 though.
So what do want to do?
Do you want to guess how long you will hang around with us?
Do you want to talk about the weather?
Do you want to talk about the time you shared on BEA? Hopefully you have felt a better person for it Place can't do miracles but it sure has gave plenty of album suggestions!
Let's see some BEA appreciation!

The man who thinks of everything = Outlaw.
Whenever I think of how long I'll be here, the nuber clicks in my head: "seven years." It's weird.

Damnit outlaw. You scared me for a sec.
I guess I'll answer the questions..
I want to discover great music from as many places in the world as possible.
I'll probably be here between one and three more years. My activity on the forums may fluctuate.
I love the weather. Perfect comfort temperature, clear sky, and the air just feels nice all around today.
I joined BEA over a year ago. I knew little to nothing about music then. Radiohead may have been the best band I knew of at the time, at least in my mind. I also liked Pink Floyd. I then grew progressively obsessed with music. I used my favorite albums to find my favorite charts. I used my favorite charts to find more favorite albums. I used greater favorites to find greater charts. This cycle has continued throughout. Now I probably know of nearly 50 charts on RYM and BEA that I actively use to discover music, with 5 or 6 that I find truly inspiring. Radiohead is no longer my favorite band. Boredoms were a favorite for a few months. Now it's Natural Snow Buildings and no other band comes close for me.
Overall, BEA and RYM have been positive experiences for me. I have learned that art is my greatest joy out of life. I want to consume art endlessly, until I can no more. I have started with music. I do not know much about visual arts, movies, and video games. Hopefully I will in the near(ish) future.

Typing of writing, I forgot to mention books. I don't read books. Maybe I'll do that some day too.
I also didn't mention MAKING art. Maybe one day I'll do some of that. Hmmm...
Biggest thing though, I do love living in the internet age. Gives great opportunity to discover and share so much.
Now I'm getting sappy.

I am so addicted to BEA that I can't imagine dragging myself away from it willingly. I think the only way I will stop coming around here is if I am forced into some sort of BEA detox program.

I can't wait for when the Dark side of the Moon will be reinstated at number one.
I have seen it being surpassed by Bruce Springsteen, Def Leppard, U2, Radiohead but when the new generation comes along and the "new Radiohead" emerges -Currenttly the only band having the wherewithall to do that is Arcade Fire but I suspect they might not to ride their wave long, who knows? they are only at 3 albums yet- sorry for the digression, when the "new Radiohead" comes along, which as I said i expect nobody can guess who it will be as of now, hopefully Hayden Who or Neile Weaver (my 2 top 2013 releases so far)- then the Dark Side will reach number 1 for a while and be surpassed by this new band but will never fall below number 2 - I can't wait for people to read this post in 2020 and realise how brilliant I was - well, even if I can't wait I will, I do want to be first on the bandwagon of the band even if I do not want them to pass the Dark Side of the Freaking F£¢king Moon.
People say I do not have an open mind because I do not listen to new stuff, at 30K MP3 files, more than 300 CDs and counting, 30 4-tracks double sided cassette tapes (about 550 albums taking into account double albums, over a hundred vinyls, 50 45 RPMs, 1 8-track cassette (the Beatles blue greatest hits) and about 26 78 RPMs (and a still fully functional gramophone to listen them on) i think calling me close minded is itself being close minded.
What can I do if the Best Ever Record has been released in 1973 and we are now in 2013. I will never pretend anything released more recently is better just for the sake of being hip, I haven`t been hip since your grandfather wore breeches.
Long live Pink Floyd, Hayden Who, Neile Weaver, even Harkan though he is way too intellectual in his musical musings. Diablo Swing Orchestra ought to be the next big thing, if a record company wakes up, markets them properly and does not force them to mainstream-up.
Shit I am drunk!!!
People of 2020, don't do drugs. I did and now I am dead, getting cut short in your 90s is not worth it.
Well, maybe acid is worth it but some of the real bad stuff isn't.
Like, you know.

Christ Outlaw, you had me worried!
I can't imagine when my last post would be. TBH no matter how shit BEA got there'd be something pulling me back, even if it's just one decent member.
