So I've taken it on myself to re/listen to the Rolling Stone 500 working my way from 500-1, kinda for nostalgic purposes as the list was basically my starting point for music discovery. Anyway, just started with Aquemini, my favourite of their albums, I got obsessed with it about 2 months and meant to bump up it's position in my 90's, I'll get on that later. _________________
I first discovered the song "Boris the Spider" on a collection of songs called "Child's Play" which featured 30 or so songs that were geared towards children. That particular one was a cover by a band called the Pumpkin Uglies and it was fucking terrifying. It was sung by a little kid and a deep, satanic voice would come in to back him up in the chorus. The pace of the song was also really slow and it felt like something out of a horror movie soundtrack. In other words, it wasn't exactly for children. [/url]
That song stuck out as odd even with The Who's version. I have to give them credit for their versatility... the version of the album I heard even had the Batman theme as a bonus track.
Tis an EP, but I couldn't be bothered to dig up the "What EP Are You Listening To?" Thread.
This first track is pretty fantastic. ^_^
