Beastie Boys - yes! De La Soul is good too but I never really got that into it for whatever reason. Maybe I'll check it out newly
Arcade Fire doesn't do it for me and I don't know why... Everything about them is stuff I like but I just haven't really been able to endure them for any long period of time. Maybe it's because they're Canadian?
Where should I start with the Sex Pistols? Which album would be a good intro? |
A:The ne album rule is where users make a chart with one album per artist to make it more diverse. There are other reasons, but I find making that a main chart pointless.
B: Definitely listen to 3 Feet High and Rising, my fave hip-hop album.
C: My mom's that way about handling doses with Steely Dan and Rush.
D: I'm not even going to say anything regarding the Sex Pistols.

I didn't appreciate much punk music at all at the time, and thought I could just dive straight into Metal Box. Well, anyway, I didn't like it. I heard Never Mind The Bollocks and I really liked that, then I tried Metal Box again and voila! As if by magic, I liked it.
So I'd start with Never Mind The Bollocks and then move to Metal Box afterwards. |
That's interesting. I listened to Never Mind the Bollocks first and consequently avoided Metal Box like the plague forever.

The Sex Pistols only released one album! |
I think I just accidentally outed myself as a punk noob ๐ซข
But, based on what you're saying and what everyone else here just said, Nevermind the Bullocks is probably the album i'll start with... _________________ -------

Cool.
By the way, I only really understood that album after I began to look into punk deeper, so don't be surprised if you find it quite dull and uninspiring on the first listen.
The Ramones and the Clash are also essential, but again, I had the same problem as with Never Mind the Bollocks. Funnily, I got into post-hardcore before punk, despite it possibly being slightly less accessible than punk, and the first punk album I really enjoyed was Jane from Occupied Europe by Swell Maps, again, despite it being less accessible. It then took getting into the Dead Kennedys before I began to appreciate more punk albums, and, after hearing that, I returned to the "classic" punk bands, and began to enjoy them more.

If that one doesn't check out, other great punk albums include Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables by Dead Kennedys, Ramones by Ramones, The Clash and London Calling by The Clash, and Marquee Moon by Television. Those are good starting places, anyhow. If you wanna get into post-punk (which I generally prefer) check out both of Joy Division's albums and Wire's first two.

Do you mean the song or Eminem? That song is like the only Eminem song I listen to anymore, haha.
