Last year I went to a Mark Kozelek concert. He was very tired (hadn't slept for twelve nights according to himself), so his communication with the crowd was either him yawning, complaining about just about everything, or telling some half-assed jokes. He seemed to wonder what kinds of sick freaks who voluntarily went to his concerts, so he also asked us a bunch of questions. At some point he asked if we could name him some artists that we liked; "And please don't fucking tell me shit like José González or Bon Iver", he added (so people said Bill Callahan and Bonnie 'Prince' Billy instead). When he actually sang and played, one of the songs he performed was Livingstone Bramble which includes the line, "I hate Eric Clapton and I hate Nels Cline"

Eh, 8-5 isn't quite a shoe in and honestly all I'd reawlly heard about Jose in the past was "he's alright, but he's too inoffensive" (doesn't sound like any of my other noms ...) I just assumed people would more vote against him than vote for Clapton, its just been the exact opposite so far _________________
the beauty of hindsight, huh? It just so happens that Gonzalez is winning so you can say this but if he wasn't you wouldn't have been surprised because there's no evidence to support the idea that BEA in general is fond of him.
