Yeah Gowie, I can see what you mean, but I'm not sure that's what the OP defined as screamo. I would say that screamo is a vocal style, much like rapping, so shouldn't really be called a genre.

screaming is a vocal style; screamo (which intentionally is a portmanteau of scream and emo) is a very specific genre category and has been since long before people heard Attack! Attack! at their middle school crush party and decided to call it that on Wikipedia. the same tragedy that befell its parent genre, honestly.

Nah, like Satie said there's too much specific instrumentation in "skramz" that makes it dynamic and a valid subversive sound. If this was 1994 I would be prone to agree with you, but after 20 years of this sound being in circulation it's been defined in the underground plenty.
