Tempel by Colour Haze
Cymro rec'd me this ages ago. I think I remember really liking it. Definitely stoner rock with some psychedelic and sludge elements thrown in

This maybe?

Ah thank you for reminding me, I never even got around to
Alright. Two challenges. (I'll listen to both of these soon enough and post my feedback)
In the meantime, I think it's time I put my 2014 listening binge on a hiatus. I will listen to 1 more 2014 album before taking a break. First person to respond to this gets to pick that album
or if this post is ignored for more than 30 minutes then I'll just go dejectedly find my own album...

Gimme gimme more r&b (preferably of the female vocals variety). I'm kinda picky so just throw out recs and see what sticks. Geevy did great last time, so yeah, gimme more. So far, I adore Kelela, FKA Twigs, Jessy Lanza, Janelle Monae...I liked Tink too. Oh and duh I love Beyonce, at least her most recent album. I'm wondering if I should try more classic r&b? Geevy mentioned Aaliyah the other day, is she worth a shot? Though I kinda really like the spacy electronic-ness a lot of the artists I mentioned above have in their production, I'd probably lose some of that if I went backwards to older r&b wouldn't I? Eh, I babble, gimme more. Also the point of Kelela was that she merged UK bass with r&b right? Well then I suppose I should ask for UK bass recs as well, that'd be dubstep and company right? I ask a lot of questions but I'm waiting for BEA's resident experts to help me out. ๐

Gone through everything so far. Lots of them were unattainable (even to listen to online) and I'm pretty sure one hadn't been released yet. If anyone has anything in the ambient area just say.

In terms of R&B there are much worse places to start than TLC's CrazySexyCool, Mary J. Blige's My Life, and a Kelis greatest hits compilation succinctly titled The Hits. Also, whilst she's more frequently thrown under the neo-soul umbrella, you should probably check out everything you can by Erykah Badu. And a singer called Georgia Anne Muldrow, particularly her Madlib-produced album Seeds. And yes, Aaliyah is most definitely worth a shot. If you're willing to take a chance on male vocalists, How to Dress Well is probably my favourite of the new alternative R&B crowd, whilst it would be remiss of me not to mention classics of the genre such as Bobby Brown's Don't Be Cruel, Tevin Campbell's I'm Ready, R. Kelly's 12 Play series, Usher's 8701 and Justin Timberlake's Justified. Whilst not strictly R&B, I also think you'd probably enjoy Take Care by Drake. As for UK bass music, I'd obviously recommend everything from my dubstep chart, as well as more recent releases which fit under the bass music umbrella, such as Forest Swords' Engravings, Four Tet's Beautiful Rewind, Logos' Cold Mission, Keysound Recordings' compilation This Is How We Roll, Co La's Moody Coup, Wen's Signals, and Addison Groove Presents James Grieve, the last of which I think you'll find is probably the most similar to that Kelela album. Hope that helps.
