I'd advise their first LP, Roxy Music (with Eno). Eno's not there after For Your Pleasure, yet I'd advise Stranded, very good nonetheless. Country Life also has a very good reputation but I haven't heard yet - will son though.

For the true Roxy music fan... Avalon blows!!! Don't listen to these people who probably haven't listened to any other album. For Your Pleasure is the best. Album...
Roxy Music (1972)For Your Pleasure (1973) Stranded (1973) Country Life (1974) Siren (1975) .. Then it goes down hill from there
If you like Eno then grab Here Come the Warm Jets ( 1973)
Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy) 1974
Another Green World (1975) Also Phil Mazanera's Diamond Head (1975) is excellent ...all essentially Roxy albums... without Brian Ferry
Okay Avalon is a fine album. It is just that the title track has been over played. And I can't stand to listen to it. I have similar feeling about Led Zeppelin IV. I have grown quite tired of hearing Stairway To Heaven...
Recently saw Brian Ferry in concert.. and it seemed to me he was enjoying playing the early Roxy Music material over the obligatory rendition of Avalon..
