Anthology by Tommy James And The Shondells

My Charts

1989 #44

A really fine compilation that covers the career of Tommy James (with and without The Shondells) from 1963 through 1970. James gets overlooked a lot, but he had a really great run of perfect pop rock singles during those years, and this is the best way to hear them without all of the filler that brought down his studio albums.

Fire Of God's Love by Sister Irene O'Connor

absolutely demands your listening. Aussie nuns take on minimal synth arrangements to give praise and strike some fear

His Epic Hits The First 11 To Be Continued by Merle Haggard

My Charts

1984 #26

A fine compilation of some of the best of Merle Haggard on Epic Records. Outlaw country...Haggard was and still is cooler than most everyone else from his time. Great tracklist here.

I agree that Haggard was cool as fuck, but that album cover makes him look like an obscure professional wrestler whose career was always destined to fail.

Rust Never Sleeps by Neil Young And Crazy Horse

My Charts:

Overall #276
70's #63
1979 #7

Excellent mostly live album by Neil & Crazy Horse from the 70's. Great selections, no hits. "Powderfinger", "Sedan Delivery", "Pocohantas"...these are the kind of songs that makes Neil really special. High energy, acoustic/loud, and very, very good.

I second this. Absolutely one of my top 10 to 20 favorite albums.
