Could use help with this chart idea I had, as I just don't have that international of a taste built up yet. If anyone knows any countries that aren't recommended and has recs, that'd be really appreciated.
I'll never complain about more music! Especially interested in the Chinese and Argentinian recs here
those two, from China and Argentina, are actually my favorite of the bunch. oh right and I forgot the fairly obvious pick for Italy, Ennio Morricone's The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.
I left some recs on your chart but more just popped into my head, Lucio Battisti from Italy is one I enjoy a lot, good fun, Persefone from Andorra, Joe Zawinul from Austria, second the Boredoms rec for Japan, Lei Qiang from China for traditional stuff, also try out Indestructible Beat of Soweto. _________________
The obvious one is Olivia Tremor Control. From there, based on your small interest in post-punk music (I see Joy Division, for one example) I'd say to check out bands like Swell Maps "...In Jane From Occupied Europe" is their best. Your general interest in psychedelia indicates to me that Mercury Rev's Yerself Is Steam is something else you should check out. Just a few off the top of my head.
