After the Gold Rush is probably the best to start with. On the Beach is probably my personal favorite of his, but I kind of agree with revolver that it might not be the best way to get into his discography. Definitely worth a listen at some point, though.
Really though you can't go wrong with any of the top 5 on this chart.

it's one of my favorites, too, but it takes the longest to "get"of his core 70's stretch, I think. at least it was for me. harvest is like, boom so quick and so good, and it stays that way, so _________________ My top songs of the 2010s
