I kind of do the opposite to this, in a roundabout way.
As memory gets tight on my iPhone and bearing in mind I have to own everything I like (I tend to use Spotify for discovering/trying before purchase) I get round this little issue by butchering compilations I already own and adding relevant individual tracks to these.
For example, there is a fine compy of Post-Punk on Soul Jazz Records called Do It Yourself - The Rise Of The Independent Music Industry After Punk. There are however a couple of duds on it, so what to do? Simple - replace said duds with tracks like TVOD or Psycle Sluts PTs 1&2. Better compilation and odds-and-ends cleared up.

I only allow albums, compilations, EPs, and singles to be in my iTunes, so no loose songs from larger releases here.

I have all albums, aside from my college fight song. It is the only "loose" song on my iTunes.

wow like so many loose songs
like albums are good obviously
but they can be such an ordeal sometimes
songs are good too
plus the new t swift album isn't out yet so i'm resigned to listening to 'shake it off' on repeat until it is
and even then the album will probably be mediocre so i'll still just listen to the singles

The majority of my itunes library is made up with albums, still I have several songs laying by themselves. Specially mainstream pop songs. I just dont see a lot of potential in albums made by
A-ha - Take on me
Alphaville - Forever Young
Aqualong - Brighter than Sunshine
Asia - Heat of the Moment
Black Eyed Peas - Where is the Love?
.... just to name a few _________________ "Hurry Up, We're Dreaming"

I will probably end up doing something like this once my memory has to be rationed. My classic has around 120GB so I'm lucky.
