Well, I was trying to find some of the best songs by Duke Ellington. There were a few 'best of Duke Ellington' compilations. So I thought: 'Which is the best 'best of'?' So that's basically the question: Which is the best best of? You can put in any artist of course. I don't usually listen compilations, but this might be a great way for people to find the real good stuff by an artist. For instance (random pick):

Chronicle, Vol. 1 by Creedence Clearwater Revival

An amazing underrated band. Their music came just after artists started making albums as opposed to recording songs. CCR produced some great albums, but the best of them is effectively distilled into this compilation.
