Best of 1974

Listmeister · 2014-05-15T17:05:02-04:00

This is just a preliminary RFC, see if there's enough interest out there to do it. The idea is, we take a year (1974) and we do a tournament to see what the best album of that year is. We'll have a field of 64 albums, including the top 16 BEA ranked, which are the following: Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway Neil Young - On the Beach Supertramp - Crime of the Century King Crimson - Red Robert Wyatt - Rock Bottom Queen - Sheer Heart Attack David Bowie - Diamond Dogs Joni Mitchell - Court and Spark Queen - Queen II Brian Eno - Here Come the Warm Jets Steely Dan - Pretzel Logic Big Star - Radio City Yes - Relayer Van Morrison - Veedon Fleece Richard & Linda Thompson - I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight Tom Waits - The Heart of Saturday Night Let's say three nominees per person.

Epilogue:

I'm wondering how many participants revised their Best of 1974 list. I know my 1974 chart got a lot longer, as did my 1970's one.

I'd love to see your revised charts.

I noticed that Meet the Residents is on your chart. Have you grown to like that album?
