Here Come The Warm Jets by Brian Eno This is an amazing album. You need to listen to it a few times in order to "get it", but when you are familiar with the music, you can appreciate the quality and it stays with you - I have been listening to it since it came out & still love it. I think the album gets better towards the end (unlike a prior reviewer) and in my view this album is way better than "Another Green World" (which I don't think is that great, although seems to be rated his best). A real classic. --August 2013 In some ways, i like this album more than another green world, if only for the more conventional song structures. I hear david bowie, 70s genesis and contemporaries like deerhoof and of montreal in here. Take "the paw paw negro blotorch" for instance -- the guitar and synths like bowie with vocals and song structure of of montreal. "baby's on fire" is a tense jam recalling tight numbers by gang of four to some of the early 00's new wave. Robert Fripp's guitar tears into song fabric. It's all a bizarre mix of pop, rock, prog and Eno's avant tendencies which he'd later explore in more ambient forms. --December 2011 On The Beach by Neil Young Arguably his best album. Sure, there are no hit singles, but that's the beauty of Neil young. For those who have only listened to harvest or after the gold rush, give this a listen. --June 2013 The title track is excellent, Motion Pictures is basically perfect, but then he goes ahead and closes the album with Ambulance Blues. A perfect album closer, among the best ever, and certainly the best acoustic ballad album closer aside from Desolation Row. I might even prefer it for it's emotional impact. It's such a devastatingly beautiful song. I've literally spent hours listening to it on repeat. There are some weak moments on Side 1, but Side 2 is breathtaking. --June 2012
