I was always kind of partial to Amnesiac. The Yorke quote is great, and it goes along with what attracted me to it when I first listened to their full discography end to end (maybe a year after In Rainbows came out): where Kid A is this incredibly organized, formally flawless album, Amnesiac shows a little bit of the thought process that went into it, and thus avoids the pitfall of sounding like a soaring attempt to be Kraftwerk on Radio-Aktivitat or whatever other vague rock-meets-progressive-electronic comparison the music journalist in someone wants to make. This is a horrible articulation of what I'm trying to get across, but yeah, I like the slightly open-ended, unnerving elements of Amnesiac. Where Kid A lets you get lost in its creepy, prophetic vision of the 21st century, Amnesiac is always kind of drawing attention to its fiber as a music album made by people with specific tools. I need to listen to it again soon since I recently revisited Kid A.

I had never been much of a music fan, but when I found Radiohead, I listened to their albums alone for hours on a daily basis over the course of nine months. I've listened to Pablo and TKOL maybe 15 times apiece, with all the others at least 50 times (I know, too much!). But having done all that, OKC is the one that I still find the magic in every time. I've listened to it over 100 times and I still find new things to love about it every listen. Call me clichรฉ, call me unoriginal, call me predictable, but OKC's message about technology's societal impact combined with instrumentals that reinforce this idea make it almost impossible to beat. The Bends has some fantastic standalone singles and was my first favorite, but its replay value decreased at about 50 listens. Kid A took the longest to grow on me, and at the end of my Radiohead period it eclipsed OKC by the slightest margin. I've never loved it as much as many fans do. Amnesiac is their underrated gem, and has a beautiful, unique sound to it that ebbs and flows. I connected immediately with it. HTTT has some great rock, but its tracks are hit-or-miss and it sags in the middle. In Rainbows has fantastic tracks, but it's never had the wow factor to make me think it their best album for more than a day or two.

My rankings of all 8:

1. OKC
2. Kid A
3. Amnesiac
4. The Bends
5. In Rainbows
6. HTTT
7. Pablo
8. TKOL
