Actually I really like Pearson Sound in general, been a big fan ever since he was still calling himself Ramadanman, but I found the album really disappointing. It just doesn't really go anywhere. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

Just listened to the new Godspeed You! Black Emperor album "Asunder, Sweet and Other Distress." On first listen, the opening and closing tracks were excellent, but the middle two were a little aimless and uneventful. It definitely has the potential to grow on me though, so my opinion on those middle two may not stay the same.
My copy of this came in today (along with Rie Nakajima vinyl and a few other goodies), and I'm really digging it. It's not available online anywhere at all but probably will eventually, in the meantime there's a sample that's listenable. But yeah this thing gets huge in the middle, a wonderful mess of sounds exploding all over the place, still don't quite know how to explain it but anyone who likes weird electronic noises without beats, this is one to look out for.
This is something else for people into the weirder stuff. It's on spotify and stuff so it's actually easily accessible. The first track is like a droney thing with a relatively prominent, ceaseless rhythm, and eventually a lil repeated vocal phrase. But then things start to get a little more wild with the 2nd track's distorted whispers right up to the side of your head, with all sorts of drones and light noises ebbing and flowing around. And then the other tracks have their own tricks, I think it's a pretty cool one and that cover art is fantastic.

this is almost the exact opposite of how I feel. dug the third track in particular over anything else.
they had an incredible album last year that I loved and somehow made a much better one just a year later. fans of Deafheaven's Sunbather will likely want to give this a go, except Ghost Bath is better. exceptional atmospheric/depressive black metal.

new godspeed is a pretty interesting, really caught me by surprise. I love the colder approach they took on this one rather then the groovy shit they did on dont bend ascend. The closing track was pretty disappointing for me though, felt pretty uninspired. Too bad too, love the rest of the album, could have been my favorite Godspeed. _________________ Alt Right meme game on point
