Record Store Day 2015

Jimmy Dread · 2015-04-05T10:50:24-04:00

Afternoon all, Sitting in a bar waiting for the footie to start and just looking through the releases for RSD 2015. There's a few gems in there, specifically these which I'm desperate to get: Kip Of The Serenes by Dr. Strangely Strange Anne Briggs by Anne Briggs I've mentioned this to a couple of others before but wondered if any UK BEAers (or any travelling non-Brits who are up for a weekend away!) fancied a meet-up on 18th. London would be the best bet - I was thinking Honest Jons -> Rough Trade West -> tube to Soho for Sounds Of The Universe -> Sister Ray if anyone fancies joining. Was originally thinking Brum but can't traipse that far as wife has decided to arrange something for the evening (yeah, lucky me - soz Skinny man/Suede). Regardless of the above, anyone got their eyes on any of the releases? There's a list courtesy of Rough Trade here - quite fancy I Hate The Rich by The Dils (one of my fave US punk 45s) too...

Thankfully only had to wait in line for 20 minutes. Got all this for $35 and I love it

Got a lot of cool, limited singles and they threw in a Brandi Carlisle bag, Clean Bandit's debut album, some promo stuff, and an Afghan Wings pin.

But I didn't get Deja Entendu.

Did any of you? By chance? I'd happily buy it off y'all if anyone got it ...

Nahh it wasn't that bad, especially with friends to talk to.

Side note: that store is selling that RHP box set for $120. I'm surprised they have the box set in the first place.

The early bird gets the worm... 😮 The worm being music in this case.

There have been many reissues of this, so it shouldn't be difficult to find; I stumble across a copy every now and then.

Missed out on any RSD stuff I wanted but did pick up Low's Trust, a first issue of Swordfishtrombones (which for some reason had been marked down because it was Russian), Kode9 and the Spaceape's Memories of the Future (an RSD release from last year, I believe), and Basic Channel's "Q Loop" 12" single on vinyl, and then Millie and Andrea's Drop the Vowels and Tim Hecker and Daniel Lopatin's Instrumental Tourist in CD.
