I've already heard it once, but I really love it I. I will do a relisten tomorrow.
I was a bit afraid of this album, because sixteen years have passed since Albarn and Coxon made an album together (and what an album it was), there are often very unsuccessful returns in similar cases.
I like that it is a mix of almost everything they made previously- a bit of Think Tank, 13, self-titled or even The Great Escape-era. It sounds very fresh and modern, and the impact of the place where the record was made, is recognisable on the music. I still have to sit down for once and read the lyrics cautiously.
I had high expectations for The Magic Whip and I'm not disappointed.

This. This is wonderful. The songwriting is superb, I mean it just feels so personal and so relatable. The man has a gift for description, it's all so fluid and flows really well. Everything about this is awesome.
And this is definitely one of the best songs I've heard this year:
Yeah, she's one of the most vital artists outchea.
I mean this is just wonderful; I didn't even like Mississippi Moonchile or Exodus this much. Makes me think I'll be taking a look at The Chicago Project and her live recordings when I have the chance.

Her latest is her best imo, but I'm a big fan of her previous two. You should check out Kamasi Washington when you get the chance; much closer to smooth fusion (definite Herbie Hancock and Weather Report influences), but The Epic is all sorts of wonderful. _________________ 2021 in full effect. For me it's I>III>II, but all of them are pretty great. Can't believe she's making 9 more. _________________ Doubles & Conch
Just did a significant update of my 2015 chart, with three new entries in the top ten, including a new #1. Check it. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
