Also in November is a new Cymande album. That's right, an actual new Cymande album. [link] _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.
OK, I've tried Depression Cherry a couple times now, and I just can't sit still to listen to it. I feel like every new Beach House album disappears more and more into fuzzy textures and complacency with being a band that makes exactly the type of music they do. Feel like the debut is the only time they really made something that was built to last with a good balance of the atmosphere and the actual songcraft.
This is a (very good) 2013 album but it's gotten a European release this year and a lot of people / sites seem to be treating it as a 2015 album ("One of the best art-pop debuts of 2015" is what I saw it called somewhere yesterday).
Just finishing up my second listen of N.O.M.A.D's new album, and it's the best 2015 release I've heard in a couple of weeks.

N.O.M.A.D - ((( Yawning ))) (2015)
Wow. Cannot recommend this highly enough. Think of a cross between Knxwledge, Thundercat, Ariel Pink, Quelle Chris, and Mo Kolours, and you might be somewhere close. (Apologies for Pitchfork-esque namedropping, but I'm far to lazy to say anything of substance right now.) Anyway, this is excellent stuff.
EDIT: Also, he sounds like the artist Ghostpoet wishes he could be.
EDIT 2: Oh yeah, this shit is dope too...

Boogie - The Reach (2015)
Just fantastic, contemporary L.A. rap, not massively different than a lot of other stuff going on in hip-hop (i.e. not dissimilar to Mick Jenkins, Chance circa 2013, or Kendrick circa 2011), but very well done. Lots of rapping about life in the hood without either glamourising or demonising. Single 'Oh My' is the obvious standout, but the rest of the tape is very strong as well. Highly recommended. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

Well Beach House has had a huge problem with being interesting since they started... ๐

I remember the RBF days when I would resent you a lot for saying this, but the more and more I listen, everything keeps lowering in stature in my eyes (ears). The debut is the only thing I find myself being able to sit through.
