Found this site a few weeks ago and he's got a top 10 Swedish albums for every year of the 2010s... might expect artists like The Knife, First Aid Kit, Tallest Man On Earth to dominate but none of them are included at all. Nearly all of the albums are in English but only about five or six of the 50 are on here.
The album currently at 1000, Switchfoot - The Beautiful Letdown, gets 1596 points from the overall charts, but it is only on 3 decade charts where it only gets another 28 points. And then if you look at the overall charts that rank the Switchfoot album, many of them are 40-50 in size, suggesting that many of the people who are charting it never ranked up enough to allow access to the decade charts that would further raise the score.
When I joined the site in 2009, that album was on the top 300. I think even more than Mumford & Sons, that story explains everything wrong with the BEA ranking system.

Or...everything that's RIGHT with the BEA ranking system. The more people here, the more charts, and a bad album drops 700 spots. I think it's more likely that a lot of those overall charts are older ones, and not a lot of people have ranked it highly recently. _________________ I'm leaning on the threshold

You do have a point there, and there are plenty of albums I love that have benefited from the system (Jagged Little Pill and August and Everything After just a pair of them), but it's just hard for me to look at the BEA top 1000 and deny that nearly half of it lacks any major significance to the history of recorded music. That's why, as good as Jhuik's picks are, basing a chart on an album's presence outside the top 1000 seems redundant.
Some interesting picks. I focus on artists that are actually out of the top 1000. But still, Wallflowers and Jayhawks are a couple that fit the bill in your top 20. _________________ Top Canadian songs, keyless entry remotes, home care, whatever...

I thnk if someone has only 50 on their chart it should rank the same as the bottom 50 of a top 100 chart. If someone comes to the site and whips off a chart with only 41 picks because they don't care enough to fill it out, it should (at best) rank the same as the bottom 41 of a regular 100 album chart. Hope that's clear. Not sure it's worth albummaster's time. _________________ Top Canadian songs, keyless entry remotes, home care, whatever...
Yeah I do think that would minimize a sort of brigade effect that could happen innocently via a group of people with a shared affinity for a certain thing finding out about the site at the same time, but I also think that if people had an easier time unlocking chart capacity, there would be better user retention than what you see here.
