Moody treated guitar atmospheres and unimaginative drum machine patterns. Occasionally threatened to do turn into something interesting, but never quite managed it. Disappointing.
Anyway, after an evening of underwhelming first listens (only Elysia Crampton really stood out as something that could end up in my top fifty of the year), I'm going back to an album I've been enjoying a lot recently...
Mildly gothic, harmonium-heavy (garage) rock, subtly reminiscent of Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, Patti Smith. Strongly recommended to Saoirse, Silver, loveless, Repo, Rocky, if y'all haven't already heard it. _________________ 2021 in full effect. Come drop me some recs. Y'all know what I like.

Just spent a day in the Cotswolds for work and visited Trading Post in Stroud, where they have two whole rooms upstairs of records they haven't even bothered sorting out yet. Found this amongst 20 copies of No Parlez, a whole slew of Beatles LPs and some trance 12"s. First listen. This is one of those things I could only get away with listening to when I'm alone or after midnight when everyone else is asleep. It's a shame cause I'm really digging the drones here. They're dissonant enough to avoid sounding plain, but not so much as to give an over-the-top apocalyptic vibe. In fact, it's very peaceful. Definitely will return.
