Alright BEA, counting on your help. I got a show accepted on my school's radio that's a two hour weekly slot of slow core and other sad indie shit. Now obviously I wouldn't have proposed this show if I didn't think I was qualified to run it, but I'm looking to expand my knowledge of that kind of stuff so that I can have like, 200 bands at least that I can draw from. Here's some of the bands that are central to what I'm going to be doing and also don't need to be recommended since I already know them, it may seem a bit disparate but that's what I'm working with.
Aceton, Alcoholic Faith Mission, American Analog Set, American Music Club, Arab Strap, Barzin, Bedhead, Bill Callahan (and all his related projects), Bluetile Lounge, Carissa's Wierd, Cat Power, Codeine, Duster, Early Day Miners, Galaxie 500, Hood, Ida, Idaho, Karate, Lambchop, Lisa Germano, Low, Lowercase, New Year, Red House Painters, Retribution Gospel Choir, Rex, S, Seam, Songs: Ohia, Spain, Sparklehorse, Spokane, Sun Kil Moon, Tindersticks, Vic Chesnutt, White Birch, Will Oldham (and all his related projects)
Those are the core, there's a lot of other stuff I know I'm going to be playing too like Elliott Smith, Grouper, Mojave 3, Microphones, and so on, just to round it out. Anyways, I know this is a fairly nebulous request, but basically anything slowcore related, or anything that's just generally melancholy indie rock and folk, chamber pop, so on.
Beware though, I'm not sure you want to depress every student on the campus.
That's the aim actually. ๐คฃ
But yeah, thanks for the recs so far guys! I'm already quite familiar with Nordenstam, Damon & Naomi, Pratt, Mazzy Star, and a few of yours Ben. I didn't post my entire list of stuff because I didn't want to make people have to read through it all so redundancies were bound to happen. I might include a couple Antlers songs from their first couple albums, but I don't think anything Hospice on really fits in with what I want to do aesthetically, as well as Brand New and Twilight Sad. It's hard to say exactly what I'm aiming for here or where I cut things off, but any ideas are appreciated so thanks either way! I might include some Eels but I haven't listened to them in like 2 and a half years so I'll have to reconsider them. Also not trying to get into the realm of emo at all because there's already a dude with an emo show. Anyways, I've already picked up quite a few from this so if anyone else has stuff to chip in it'd be much appreciated!

I honestly block out Hospice a little cuz I'm still more of an Uprooted guy. Hospice is an incredible album but I almost think of it as a different band altogether. Brand New was a bit of a shot in the dark, thoguht that specific Twilight Sad track might work but most of their stuff definitely not. Eels ... again there's a few tracks but a lot is too happy musically or stuff I feel like.
Thoughts on Tan Vampires or El Come Home out of curiosity? I really love both but not a lot of other people have checked out either. _________________

Didn't really like the Tan Vampires song and it's definitely not the sound I'm going for either, but I liked the El Come Home song and it would probably fit in to the show. Will check them out more.
