Ballasted Orchestra by Stars Of The Lid

Less emotion on this work. But some of the grimy sounds and textures with this one sounded very pleasing to my ears. I found a lot more enjoyable moments in the last half of the album. Pretty good drone album, probably my least favorite from the duo, though.

Rating: 75/100

And Their Refinement of the Decline by Stars Of The Lid

My third favorite album by them. Some parts felt kind of void. Other parts felt like new highs.

Whenever, If Ever by The World Is A Beautiful Place And I Am No Longer Afraid To Die

This is definitely a Precedent album, lol. Pretty excellent sound here. Lyrics are pretty relevant, which I always love. Love the friendship theme this album brings.

Music For Nitrous Oxide by Stars Of The Lid

Been really delving into these guys lately. Probably my third favorite work by them. Excellent debut album by the duo.

Rating: 85/100

My ordering of their discography:
1. Tired Sounds (of course)
2. Avec Laudenum
3. Nitrous Oxide
4. And Their Refinement
5. Ballasted Orchestra

Got 2 more albums to get through by them. Will probably purchase Avec Laudanum on vinyl by the end of the week.

Not so much a music entry, but just a little update of what I've been doing lately. So I've pretty much mentioned enough on here that I am a biochem major at school. Finals week is next week so all of the papers and presentations are due this week so I've been busy with those. Not to mention that I've been following a workout program on bodyspace.com that involves me getting up at 6a.m. to lift for 5 days in a row (2 days of rest) and eat a low carb diet and only eat during an 8 hour window during the day (I "fast" the remaining 16 hours). I've never done a low carb diet before and it's pretty weird. Plus I'm up late doing these projects so I am lacking some sleep. On the bright side, my world of relationships is stellar, which is a great motivator at the moment. Also, I work hard during the week so I can party on the weekends, because I'm addicted to it. That's my weekend night absence for ya. Probably will only post on my music diary for the rest of the year and avoid the other threads so I won't get distracted as much. Will be listening to a lot of ambient music because it helps me with homework.

Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik by OutKast

I think I love this more than their most acclaimed work, Stankonia. Really captures the funky vibe I've always loved from OutKast. I feel it more so on here than any other album they put out. Excellent 90s hip hop by one of the best acts of all time.

Selected Ambient Works Volume II by Aphex Twin

Ugh... I really want to like this album. I really want to. I swear. There are some highlights I did enjoy, mostly the more misty, atmospheric sounding ones and the more melodic, upbeat ones, but there are also so many wastes of times on this album. Like the second track on the album, Radiator, is so bad. It is just awful and you cannot convince me that it is any good otherwise. Not a single sound is pleasant to the ears. Easily Richard's worst track he's ever made. I just want to find a person who actually enjoys the track. I'm waiting for some shit to be thrown for some ridiculous reason. Also, the second to last track, White Blur 2, is way to long for such an uninteresting loop. I just hate the more clunky, repetitive songs on here that sound completely void of any effort or emotion. Trim those tracks (which is, like, almost half the album) and you probably got a solid score of about 80.

I tried.

All Of A Sudden I Miss Everyone by Explosions In The Sky

Okay post-rock. Good to listen to, like always, just didn't stand out for me.
