In the past week or so I've been listening to a lot of trixies big red motorbike, some macross 82-99 and a few other albums just check my rym or last.fm if you're so bothered ๐
This album works so well really late at night because not only am I most energetic in the night (providing I'm not tired) I also get really cuddly (as a certain LAD knows too well ;)). And that's what this album effectively feels like. An intensely energetic cute cuddle. Caramell made some pretty nice bubblegum dance music that was pretty cute back in the early 00s and some guy came along and helped them out a little, sped the original album up, and probably changed some minor details and hey presto! The perfect night time album. This is basically just a nightcore mix but concentrated on one artist and its so tight and cohesive in structure. The songs themself have such beautiful melodies and synths popping and sizzling around during the warm cutesy vocals and pulsating beats. The boom boom of the drum makes the boom boom of the heart I guess you could say
This album is pretty damn fantastic. So warm and soothing but chilling at the same time. Sibylle's a beaut and makes beaut music. Just gorgeous wholesome music _________________

I suddenly realised I'd not checked out a full grime album before so I went ahead and did that then I realised I hadn't even listened to (well, not listened to since my age become double figures..)
The former is a real good modern grime album, yeah, not much I can say beyond that. However the latter is bloody incredible. Deep pulsating beats and slimey grimey goodness oh and dizzee's flow and vocal delivery is to die for mm. Love it.
When I first listened to this I wasn't too impressed. Why didn't someone lecture me about how objectively amazing this is? Perfect piece of artsy, zany pop rock mm hmm I really love its campy grooves. Melodies to die for. Androgyne oddball-pop heaven.
now for the next one along the line in their catalogue, was very impressed. even almost to the standard of Kimono but quite not. the rocky edge is taken away and we're just left with artsy vaudeville-influenced pop, for better or worse. however as much as i loved this one it just missed that kick that I was really looking for, but yeah it's great.
GIMME MORE SPARKS YAAAAAAA: sparks go disco on this one and it works extremely well. the only highlight really is The Number One Song in Heaven which is amazing but the whole albums is really good. well done sparks you've gone from a decent band with a coupla really good singles to a place in my heart in just one night! _________________

Finished watching the original Sailor Moon series last night. Just about the most beautiful thing on earth, so precious. Been listening to this on loop basically all day _________________
credit where credit's due: i really liked the atmospheres on this one. the second part's bagpipes are gorgeous. a really nice record, i was surprised because i've heard part one of tubular bells and beyond that eerie piano melody which is quite nice it's kinda bad. but yeah this one really hit home
listened to kimono my house + velvet underground s/t too tonight, same old same old. been lots of sparks and trixie's big red motorbike recently.
as for other stuff in my life i have christmas break now which should be fun (been off since friday), got my laptop fixed finally (!!!) so i finished watching sailor moon (original series), onto sailor moon r now (second series), obsessively playing fallout 3 as well as some runescape thrown in for nostalgic purposes. it's too goddamn addictive. it's also easy to play with background music on, too, which is nice.
I imagine I could dig it if it were like, I dunno, a short 5 minute burst and had some of the nice melodies it has going on every now and then... but as it is, an exhausting 37 minute album that relies completely on its speed (probably in the range of 220-260BPM on average) and its pulsating drums, it's just not enjoyable at all. I really want to enjoy this sort of brutal, noisy hardcore because it is basically to hardcore what grindcore is to hardcore punk - delicious speedy cacophony - but I mean I just can't be doing with it. it just gets damn grating. _________________
yesterday i listened to nyc hell 3am and r plus seven the latter of which i hadn't heard for like two years. still a disappointing record based on oneohtrix's other stuff tbh.
been listening to this a lot recently. everything i could want in the campy side of new wave mixed with beautiful jingles and jangles. quite orange juice-y but not at all at the same time and somehow that makes sense.
forgot to update this yesterday but i listened to:
which was even better. in their debut they use sorta midi-ish synths to make their bombastic cabaret-ish art pop and it just adds this amazing twist. love love love.

more stuff from today:
finally listened to the new kanye single and um nah
ok so more of this please. chaotic, frantic bleeps and bloops with sweet af vocals and just ughhhhh this is right up my alley I NEED MOAAAAAAAAR _________________
finally gave this a listen. I like what's going on, over all an enjoyable listen but nothing that struck me as anything amazing. @Tyler I'd love some personal insight on this/a small write-up of what makes this your favourite album
lead vocalist of crying doing a heartfelt lo-fi indie folk ep, it's really good and brandon brandon brandon u need to get on this cos it's like crying and stuff
QUARTERS CLINKING IN MY ALTOIDS TIN... aah too much love for the chippytuney POWERtwee of crying and her voice is way more adorable with all that bitty nonsense going on in the background ๐ _________________
