You kids seem to really like my Kids chart, so I decided to finally update it for the first time in years. It's not as "pure" and nostalgic as it used to be, but as least it has twice as many recs.

Only 10 short of getting this to a full 100, which would be a rather lovely way to start the year.

Help me if you like - could do with some half-decent recs, especially if you're not already on it (always great to BEAutify some different users - glad I could finally stick Mercury, Repo and LittleM in). Drop me a PM an' ting.

Laters.

glancing through your charts, you hadn't added any Rhythm & Sound releases as far as I could tell. it's probably a long shot that you haven't heard/of them, but if not, it's Mark Ernestus and Moritz Van Oswald doing actual dub with an assortment of major artists in that world. i also feel like your softness for indie pop and low number of 2010s picks would both be factors that could lend to your appreciation of The Marshmallow Kisses.

Cheers Satie. Only heard Ciao Baby and really didn't think a lot of it, surprisingly (I know Tom and Bruno are big fans, so it came as a bit of a shock that it didn't float my boat as much as I thought it would).

As for Rhythm and Sound, I really need to get round to listening to them, especially as it was via the guys involved that all the Wackies stuff we know and love (Junior Delahaye, Wayne Jarrett, Horace Andy, Love Joys et al) got repressed. To fire one back at you, try this for size... Best described as chip tune dub out of the Jahtari stable (who've also got some other goodies I'm yet to explore):

No Broken Hearts On This Factory Floor by Tapes

Also a big fanks to KKS for a PM full of recs. I'll make you BEAutiful yet, pal...

I Wonder Why My Favorite Boy Leaves Me An EP by The Marshmallow Kisses

I feel like you'd appreciate this more than Ciao Baby (though I prefer the latter). You should also check out Three Berry Icecream (their self-titled is shibuyessential)

I think goeie-oke should claim Jim O'Rourke's 'Eureka' for playing it in plug last Summer (I already had it myself), and if you're looking for a new rec, you could try...

Currently doing a wild revamp of my top 100 chart, since I logged in today and saw I got COTD yet again in October (thank you to everyone whose kept my chart rating above 80). While many of the old entries will remain (OK Computer is, surprise surprise, still #1; Mellon Collie; Grace; The Downward Spiral, etc.), there will also be a lot of new surprises (D'angelo, anybody?) and also a lot of, well... newer records in general. I'm guessing that about 40 of the albums on the old chart have been purged from this revamp. Radiohead no longer have their entire discography in the chart.

EDIT: This is going to be a process that'll take a few days. Right now the chart only has 50 entries and nothing is in order.

I'm going through my decade charts and the sites decade charts and listening to each album and giving an honest effort to rate them (so roughly 200 albums each decade... then I'll review my ratings and update my charts, and possibly then have a new "master" chart.

I'll be doing gut checks with this scale below on each song and then getting an average of the album afterwards. Because numbers... I may adjust overall score differently than the average score if I end up not agreeing with the overall. Because I think an album is best when each song is strong (holistic experience instead of a few good songs), I think it's a pretty good way about going about it.

85 to 100: Good to Great
60 to 84: Don't necessarily like, but respectable to average
50 to 59: Dislike but can see how it deserves some respect.
49 and below: needs to die in a fire

Wish me luck. It's 1400 albums.

Finally gave my overall a proper update. Still not satisfied, but 100 albums will never be enough. Check it, if you so wish.

Updated my overall chart to probably the most accurate it has been in a while. Check it out here.
