There's been some reallyyyyy good ambient albums out so far this year.

Along with that Bing & Ruth album there's been:

Cruel Optimism by Lawrence English

A Pink Sunset For No One by Noveller

An Act Of Love by Earthen Sea

Yeah, the Earthen Sea is particularly good. Found the Lawrence English a bit melodramatic but still enjoyable.

Ron Trent/Various Artists - Ron Trent presents Prescription: Word, Sound & Power

There will not be a greater reissue, retrospective, anthology, or greatest hits release in 2017. Essential deep house from a true legend. Fans of Larry Heard or Theo Parrish or Kenny Dixon Jr. would be well advised to check it out. Pure bliss.

I've been super excited for this for some time now and was just about to get around to it. Reading this I'm only more excited. I've previously loved this comp

Altered States: Blak Tech Society by Ron Trent
but good as it is I've always felt it never really did total justice to the scope of Trent's work, so yeah I'm beyond hyped to get on this 😁 (especially now with the Skinny seal of approval)

There's a new Kangding Ray (Hyper Opal Mantis), a new Nathan Fake (Providence), and a new Blonde Redhead EP (3 O'Clock EP).

Has anybody listened to the new Laura Marling?

Good shout. In the mood for this kind of thing after having been playing this to death over the last week, which got a re-release late last year and with a bit of luck I'll pick up at the Peacefrog stand at Spitalfields in a couple of weeks:

The French Press by Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever

Any fans of jangle pop or just great indie will probably love this EP. It encompasses the influence of so many artists.
