Artists Whose Debut Record Is Their Best/Your Favourite

This doesn't necessarily mean that everything that proceeded their first record was awful. It's more about that first album being the superior and most essential choice in their catalog... or your favourite. I'll start with a few suggestions: Apologies To The Queen Mary by Wolf Parade Turn On The Bright Lights by Interpol Fleet Foxes by Fleet Foxes I know with Fleet Foxes - particularly - it's debatable because Helplessness Blues comes so v. close but I feel like it's commonly agreed upon that this is still their best record. Is This It by The Strokes Funeral by Arcade Fire Same thing with Fleet Foxes again. I know The Suburbs is some great competition. That's enough for now. I'm interested to see what you all can come up with.

I think you and I might have talked about this one before. I see it as another Fleet Foxes scenario because most listeners believe Modern Vampires is their best - *cough* Pitchfork *cough* - but then again, I'm not a fan and I agree with you on this one. Walcott is such a great track...

Yeah I've totally made this comment before that their debut is their best and possibly only album worth listening to regularly. But I'll be honest, in the last 6 months, Modern Vampires has grown on me. I mean it went from wow this is boring to hmm, this is actually pretty fantastic.

I'm just realising that we're 3 for 3 with self-entitled albums...

So out of curiosity, I went through the 100 albums on the list and more than 1/4 are self titled!

Also wasn't sure what you meant by these comments.
Finally broke the cycle.

Also... this is really hard to maintain... I feel like there's some things i'd take off this list and add to it, but don't really have the brain power/time/patience to do that lately.

Ah, that's just me making some poor jokes about the self-entitled albums. Clearly they didn't land 🤣 .

Is that a debut? I always thought that Nostalgia Ultra was Frank's first. Unless that was a mixtape.
