My question is very simple, do you still buy music magazines?


I ask this because it is increasingly common to hear that the CDs will end because no one buys, that the magazines will end because the younger people have no interest ... the truth is that I am 24 years old, I continue to buy CD's and 5 Magazines EVERY Month (It's not easy to read them all, that's why they accumulate over the months )


Out of curiosity, the magazines I buy are two from my country (Blitz, about Indie rock and Loud! about Metal) and
And the English Classic Rock, Metal Hammer and Prog.

Yes, i still get a couple music magazines. I get Mixmag and DJ magazine. Both are about electronic dance music. And I still get Rolling Stone because I'll get a subscription off and on over the years. But this is mostly out of habit, because I've been reading it since I was a kid. I grew up in the tail end of the golden age of rock magazines, when they were a much bigger deal than they are now. And all of the greatest ones are long gone, but this would be my list of favorite classic music magazines, some gone, some still around:

Creem
Circus
Trouser Press
Kerrang!
Phonograph Record Magazine. ( it was free, and when I was a little kid and didn't have any money, I would just go to the store and get it)
Rolling Stone
The Face
Spin

I occasionally read the wire. Great reviews and columns covering a wide range of genres. I would definitely recommend if you're into the experimental side of music.

I've often read Uncut over the years and still get this sometimes. I'm a bit bored of it these days but the reviews are generally very reliable. I'm enjoying their "ultimate music guides" more, where they take a single artist and review the entire discography (with some old articles thrown in). I have the Beach Boys and Bob Marley ones and I found them really interesting.

Used to buy Uncut (2002-2006) but in the end got tired of their obsession with classic rock bands from the 1960s and 1970s and their inability to spot good music from the present. That said, I did discover a lot of great older music through the magazine, not least the wonderful Judee Sill.

In the end I was getting so many better recommendations from Pitchfork (which was free) so I decided to save the money...

I stopped purchasing magazines / newspapers years ago.

Now that I have hi-speed internet, i have all the information at my finger tips.

As well, I don't have to recycle, which is a pain in the butt.

Additionally, I read recently that most newspapers have higher on-line subscriptions versus hard copies.
I believe, you are going to see the end of magazines in the near future.
