Bob Dorough was a jazz pianist who most of us probably know as one of the main composers of songs on Schoolhouse Rock, one of the greatest educational programs on American television. I don't know how well Schoolhouse Rock is known outside of the US, but I know that myself and many other children learned their multiplication tables, history, grammar, and science from the great songs that this guy wrote.
Post your favorite Schoolhouse Rock tune is you've got one.
OH, and I know I've posted this album before, but this album was so sick. From ages 3 to 6 I probably listened to this almost more than anything else. It's probably responsible for a lot of my initial musical leanings. It has Daniel Johnston, Buffalo Tom, Pavement, and Chavez on it!
Never heard of him or Schoolhouse Rock - never made it to these shores. Obvs. now know where De La Soul took (virtually) the entire of โThe Magic Numberโ from. What a beautiful track - thanks for sharing. _________________ 'Reggae' & t'ing Folk 'n Stuff SHAMELESS RECORD DEALER PLUG
