I like Richie Hawtin, but I like him better as Platikman or Richie Hawtin. FUSE ain't bad or anything, I just never felt like listening to this after the first couple times I heard it.
And Ricardo Villalobos is a pretty good House album.

Yep, a vote for Alcachofa here too. Never heard the F.U.S.E. LP before it got entered into the contest and was pleasantly surprised by it - a true raver's LP, but then again not as strong for me as that Stakker record/video (Eurotechno) that came up earlier in the tourney, which is just relentlessly gorgeous. On the other hand Villalobos' magnum opus is divine - always seen it as the kind of album that Underworld could have made had they focused less on anthems and inside decided to relocate to a portastudio in a rainforest. And if Karl Hyde had his voicebox ripped out and replaced by one belonging to Metal Mickey. _________________ 'Reggae' & t'ing

Yeah I hadn't ever listened to Alcachofa before the tourney, and I haven't listened to it that much actually, some march 2017 listens, then a may 2017 listen, and then a march 2018 listen, for 5 total listens. and I actually will be getting a may listen in this year too, so I think this accidentally became a spring album for me now? I think that makes sense tho, the bass gives this warmth and then the high end is crisp so it has the same mixed sense of temperatures that I associate with spring.
I listened to the FUSE album once march 2017 and I've checked back on tracks here and there, including recently just to be sure, and I don't even really have any criticisms of it but it did not make the same impression Alcachofa did on me.

that F.U.S.E. album was huge for me when I first started digging into "IDM" type electronic shit, and indeed it's a pretty foundational piece in the annals of Warp et all. I still really enjoy it.
That said Alcachofa is an absolute beast. One gets the sense listening to it that given Villalobos could could arrange test patterns into a danceable groove. minimal dance music at its absolute finest. Easy(Lee) vote

Richie Hawtin as an artist is way more consistent than Villalobos, but comparing possibly his worst effort with Ricardo's masterpiece is obviously a bit of a mismatch. Alcachofa this round.
