Another great recommendation i received. Truly an astounding majestic record. Interesting and excellent vocals mixed with some interesting musical palettes. Was not sure at first but the record really pulled me and was an excellent listen.
So I finished this up. And though I do think this album is abstract and feels like it didn't come out from the 70's, it was just an okay project. The reason for this? Well compared to an act like Autechre, there work is a lot more meticulous and there textures are varied. While Sea Stones is varied, it isn't that dense. Also when Sea Stones gets annoying, it becomes a drag.
I do think this is an album electronic fans should give a try. But I wouldn't be surprised if a good chunk of people would be miffed by it. Because I know I was.

I have to be in the right mood to listen to GY!BE and today I was. A fantastic, atmospheric, soaring, powerful album. Storm is the best song, but to be honest I could have done without the last 5 minutes of each song. I guess they serve a calming purpose but that's 20 minutes that could have been one more song 🤣
Good Fusion album from amazingly talented Jazz Drummer Billy Cobham, not up to his work wit Miles or Mahavishnu but stilll a terrific album and one i enjoyed greatly. i am not positive if i had heard this entire album before but it seemed familiar. some tracks i absolutely heard. Thanks for the refresher as i enjoyed this record a lot.
Oh yeah, this was a really cool listen, and felt perfect for fall. Immersive atmospheres and among the best ambient I've heard so far. Starting it at 4/5.

anyway, I've actually listened to this a handful of times since you're rec'd it and while I wouldn't call it a favorite, it's really enjoyable and has serious replay value. I tend to be easily seduced by deep layers of droning fuzz when done well, and the psychedelic tint this whole thing has just seals the deal. Not that I have a problem with music like this embracing a certain monotony, I do like how this album eschews a lot of the normal repetitive flavor I'd normally associate with drone rock for some subtlety varied textures. Songs inch forward in slow building drone fashion but there's a lot shifting and evolving under all these layers of sound and it's just really nice shit for drifting into and getting lost into, each song is like a little journey in itself. really good rec thanks Chief 😄

Thanks for this. I've been meaning to check out an album from them for a long time. Liked what I've heard here and there from both the 13th Floor Elevators and Rocky Erikson....and Primal Scream and Spacemen 3 have both covered songs of theirs. This was some really good early psych garage variety with a rough, lo-fi sound that I really dug. Man! 1969 was a great year!
I had actually never listened to a hip-hop live album before, nor had I heard anything by Akua Naru. The band is really tight and finds an ideal middle ground between being impressive in their own right and not making it all about themselves. Instead, the spotlight is on Naru, who is a very talented rapper. Her flow is great and so are her lyrics. When she goes the poetry route on a couple tracks, it's good, but less impressive than her rapping. This is a fantastic record for anyone who wants some conscious hip-hop that's laidback without being boring. 4/5.
Yeah this was an excellent album. A very groove oriented dance album. From reading your mini review if you want a dance album that is tounge and cheek, listen to Knower's 2016 album Life. Also I think I got two other albums to listen to. But we will see.
