Man, a bit different is right. I actually liked this quite a bit, it was really bizarre and quirky but fun to listen to. A really solid prog/art rock record that I've never heard of before. Weird for sure, but in a unique, good way.
Wow, this was great! After one listen it's already one of the better psych rock albums I've ever heard. Outstanding instrumentally, and with good vocals and songwriting to boot. 4/5 to start, and maybe it will grow into a favorite down the line. Thanks for the great rec! 😁
Damn this was great. Sorry for the late response. Been busy with work. But if anyone wants old school hip hop, this is a great one. A bit archaic but a lot of these songs knock.

Thanks for this. I love Washed Out, and I've had Paracosm in my collection since 2014, but I somehow had only ever heard it in terms of individual songs, never all at once. After my first proper listen just now, I can say that this is some of the best that chillwave (an extremely overhated genre) has to offer. Very dreamy, billowy, and transcendent. 4/5.

Glad you love Paracosm. One of the best albums of 2013 and the decade as a whole. As for Los Angeles, I'm excited. I remember actually listen to half of the album but stopped. Once you suggested it, I had a blank where I thought I listen to it. But then realized I didn't finish it. So this will be one I will hopefully get done soon unlike the last one.

Wow! The start of this album is just insane. By the time I finished the album I had to go back and listen to that first song again. This is easily the best jazz album I've heard so far. I don't know...maybe because it's guitar based I can relate to it better than most jazz? It is aptly named because it did have a timeless feel to it (my wife actually asked me during Lungs, without knowing what we were listening to - "is this 70's, 80's, or recent?"). It almost had a psychedelic tinge, and a jam rock feel at times. Preferred the more upbeat songs like Lungs, and Red and Orange, but still liked the slower, atmospheric, mellow ones as well. Thanks Rocky, I really enjoyed this great album.
If you have not heard this go listen ASAP this was great one of the years and decades best records. So So clad you introduced me to this brilliant record. This is great stuff, nice throwback sound but with a great bite and excellent musicianship. 5/5

I haven't heard as much from The Magnetic Fields as I should, and this was a good listen. Really easy to listen to, the usage of the Wall of Sound is great too. Pretty different from the kind of odd Magnetic Fields stuff that I'm used to (albeit, a pretty limited section of their discography).
