You must listen to the album below you.

Anonymous · 2013-02-24T12:09:02-05:00

Not for the fainthearted. You must, at some point, listen to the album posted directly underneath yours. In order to post an album below someone you are required to write a review of the album that was previously posted below you, including who suggested it, then your own suggested album for the person above you. If you've heard it already, feel obliged to give it another spin. No cheating or you're a bad person that sucks. If you're new, then you get one free album post without writing a review (as you haven't been given an album yet). Hopefully this will introduce people to new albums that they might not otherwise have heard, and takes away that hard choice of choosing what to listen to next. Looks like I'm first.

The Evil One by Roky Erickson

I think Roky fared a little better than his contemporaries Syd Barrett and Peter Green when it comes to losing their minds. This album was good, and offered some good advice on how to deal with Satan.

Luigii, here's one for you.

Holiday Destination by Nadine Shah

I liked this, it was pretty solid. The music was good all the way through, Shah was able to seamlessly go from song to song while lyrically dealing with some pretty emotionally heavy stuff. A couple okay moments, but overall a pretty enjoyable album.

Damn. This is some excellent stuff. To the point where I do want to give there 2009 as well as 2016 album a listen. Like this was some addictive, nuanced and chill electronic music. My only complaint with this album is that is fizzles out a bit by the tail end. However, with that statement it just means a 95 goes down to a 90. So realistically can't complain.

My pick:

One of my favorites from 2016.

Traditional Synthesizer Music by Venetian Snares.

The Electric Lady by Janelle Monáe

I liked this album much more than i expected to like it. I am not going to run out and purchase it but it was certainly enjoyable and i had a good time listening to it, If you like more modern pop, r&b, and hip hop this is a really enjoyable album. 3.5/5 well worth a listen, may even make the back end of my yearly chart.

My recommendation for Luigii:

Tales Of Ordinary Madness by Warren Haynes

I've actually already heard that one! Great pick too. Is there another album you wanna send my way?

Well here is a different one.

Boris's 2003 album Akuma No Uta.

Now I want to listen to this again as well. Maybe after the Daughters revisit.

From Purplepash:

Everything Is Forgotten by Methyl Ethel

Pleasant, breezy contemporary psych pop with good vocals. In that sense, this checks all the boxes. However, much of the songwriting seems a little half-baked. As an album, I liked it but didn't love it. 3.5/5.

I think that I had listened to this before, because the cover seems very familiar. Those French made some good electronic music in the 70s and 80s.

Here's one for you Baystate.

Well this was a great album to listen to. I got an impression of Mahavishnu Orchestra playing krautrock and every minute of it was incredible. Definitely worth multiple listens and diving deeper into the artist.
