ok guys, let's start (slowly) figuring this out. The way I look at it, there should be at least one electronica album in our top ten. These are the ones that stand out to me...
I could drop another dozen here that would fit that genre ๐
Awesome! Which shouldn't make our cut? Which ones are essential listens for 2010. I think we should figure out which one (or two) is the very best and essential listening for 2010 and then put one or two of them in our provisional top 10.
Tilly, I did have an idea for how to structure the process, based on your concept of everyone picking five that everyone has to listen to. First, everyone selects their absolute favorite five records, independent of considerations of how popular/obscure those albums are or how representative they are of the year. Then, if your top five has two albums that other people also selected, you get to pick two additional favorite albums. The order in which people pick these additional albums will be via a randomly selected draft, for fairness and to avoid further duplicates. So we will end up with a pool of slightly more than five albums per user that we all have to listen to, and then we all rank that pool once we're finished listening to it. The result of the ranking creates our list. If we use this method or something similar, I volunteer to do all the logistical work. _________________ Join us in the canon game :) / Add me on RYM
I like Caribou, but that's probably his third best album for me. Deepchord is a dub techno classic, and that Emeralds album has risen in the ranks for me.

That's cool! I'm more of a talker. lol. So I wouldn't mind hashing this out by talking/typing it out either.
edit: Perhaps we could do a little of both? ๐ค
