Thank you Chief. I will get The Hives album done at some point. But as of now this was quite an interesting album. It's not an album that makes me lose my shit and hold onto a pedestal as one of the best albums ever. But it was one of those albums I enjoyed going on its made journey and maybe will get a revisit in the near future.
Grade:90

Chief, I would have been mean and say the John Mayer album since we might need another case of the Elton John diatribe.
But my actual choice is Strange Mercy by St Vincent.

Funkadelic by Funkadelic

This album feels really important as the genesis of the Parliament/Funkadelic movement. And it delivers a delightfully weird experience as expected. Everything is at least good and some tracks are transcendent. The funkier songs are better than the rock-oriented songs. 4/5.

Chief's bonus pick:

Come To My Garden by Minnie Riperton

This is absolutely gorgeous soul with some great baroque arrangements. Many of the tracks are brilliant, and I think this album could grow into a personal favorite with time. Thanks for steering me to this. 4/5.

2. Luigii, try The Hives I guess. Btw, when are you going to switch up your lists?

Once I finish up all 100 albums from 2000, I will change my list.
Next list will be 2015. I will handle my 2015 list somewhat differently. Will explain when I get to that.
Also when I get the last 10 from 2000, the list will end up become small until there is no more.

This was good. Not an album that makes me go wow. But an album that is short sweet and to the point. The only real reason I would rate it in the 70's is that this isn't my aesthetic. Maybe this will change as I get more punk albums under my belt. (Is this album punk? Let me know.)

(2)Wow Bay, this list looks awesome. Might venture into stuff like this. But I would go with Cartola.

Uncle Meat by The Mothers Of Invention

Yeah I don't know what to think of this. I was expecting weird, and I'm not averse to strange music, but I think this was even too weird for me. Whereas Hot Rats seemed to show Zappa's appreciation for jazz was this taking the piss out of jazz? With what sounds like xylophones and kazoos etc. It definitely had it's moments, Ian Underwood Whips It Out, and especially the very last King Kong song which was actually fantastic, but I really could have done without the whole repetitive Uncle Meat movie dialogue. WTF was that? Can't deny it was an interesting two hours though.

Luigii: I don't think of Hives as punk. They are garage rock revival in my opinion.
As for my pick Odyssey Number Five is in my top 10 for 2000.

Odyssey Number Five by Powderfinger

Time for a new chart for me...

Baystate's best of the 60s (5 picks remaining)

Shangri-Las - 65! - The Shangri-Las
Nashville Skyline - Bob Dylan
Out To Lunch! - Eric Dolphy
Karma - Pharoah Sanders
I Never Loved A Man The Way I Love You - Aretha Franklin
Wild Honey - The Beach Boys
Chelsea Girl - Nico
Idle Moments - Grant Green
A Charlie Brown Christmas - Vince Guaraldi

As of now this is an excellent record. Top 10 material? Unfortunately,No. 2000 for me at least has gotten some steep competition that I don't know where this would be place on the custom chart I will make or on my own list which I will have to put more time into since that revolves around points.
The only thing I need to do is give another listen since I had to do housework as well as there was an accident near my home. So my thoughts of the album is a little shaky. Grade 90 but could go up or down due to needing another listen.

Also The Hives is Garage Rock. I think I wrote out Punk due to the short song lengths. But it isn't.

Acabou Chorare by Novos Baianos

So glad I had another listen with this. Easily 85 to 90 range. I think I downplayed this because it felt novel at first, but then "samey" by the end of the album, but I think perhaps this time I experienced more dynamics. I really like the smooth vocals for both female and male. The whole album has a smoothness I didn't appreciate my first listen as much as well.

2.
I would recommend Binaural if the album weren't so flat. If you want Pearl Jam from 2000 that's any good, I'd recommend this as their live versions of those songs are MUCH better: Jones Beach, New York August 25, 2000 by Pearl Jam

But that's not how this game works, so from your list I'd probably check out that Perfect Circle album cuz it's a super group from peeps I respect, but never got into myself.

Cartola (1976) by Cartola

This was my first time listening to an album from the samba-choro genre before, and it's great. Excellent vocals backed by mellow instrumentation that's never uninteresting. 4/5.

2. Seth, listen to this next:

Zombie by Fela Kuti & Africa 70

Another enjoyable album. And one that makes me want to venture through more of their work. The only thing I might have against this album is that compared to other albums on this list, this doesn't hit me all the way. But this does pack a punch.
Grade:90

Bay it has been almost 4 years, Sketches Of Spain from Miles it is.
