Chief, it would be very cool if you made a chart putting the rare cassettes from this list in your own order of preference. Then when you're done going through it, those of us who are interested would know where to start. _________________ Join us in the canon game :) / Add me on RYM

Good idea. I'm currently just putting ones that I have added in my "More Additions" chart, but I'll make one, that'd help myself as well.
I guessed this was going to get picked for me straight away. You guys are just trolling me now right? Classic artists like Hendrix, The Who, The Stones, and The Kinks are all available and you give me the jazz album 🫵🤣
So bossa nova isn't really my thing. It would have made good background music at a hipster cafe but I was listening to it as foreground music on the commute home from work. 6.5/10 (I'm being generous), 6/6 for 1964, and 80/82 for the 60's.
Rocka: Named after 2 great movies it's gotta be good! Citizen Kane - Deliverance

🤣 I'm not trolling, I swear. My general principle for the original album below you game is to pick an album I think the person above me will like. In contrast, my general principle for this game is to pick the album that I like best, regardless of how much I think the person above me will like it. That's in keeping with the founding purpose of this thread: a game that exposes people to acclaimed albums that they might not hear otherwise, some of which they'll enjoy and some of which they won't.
I mean, I could go into a lengthy discussion. But to keep this quick, this was excellent. To rank all three discs, I would go Disc 2, Disc 1 and then Disc 3. Disc 2 being almost flawless while Disc 1 and 3 have a few hiccups that prevent me from going absolute crazy for. Otherwise my grade for this would be a 90.

Another Canadian hip hop album that has something to say. It has some loose future concepts that are bolstered with a couple of cheesy interludes (and one random skit called Yancy that's bad); however, this thing is going to go high on the list. Once again I'm impressed by the beats on this album. I thought a lot of these off of this list were going to be boring or too samey to be interesting, but they have mostly been tasteful, or at least easy to listen to, no complaints. If I could pay more attention to the lyrics, these dudes have a lot to say; it would fall into the "conscious" label most likely. For some reason I got a Cannibal Ox vibe several times. One track in particular had this electric guitar, (sample) that felt like it could have been pulled off "The Cold Vein".
LUIGII, listen to 16 Horsepower. They're a unique alt-country act.

Very nice album. I'd put in the middle of the three albums of theirs I've heard so far, a hair shy of Within The Realm Of A Dying Sun and significantly better than Toward The Within. The instrumentals and vocals are sometimes breathtakingly beautiful together, and sometimes (less often) rather nondescript. 3.5/5.

Chief was correct. The more I listen to albums, the more I realize I am welcoming to any genre. And country continues to get some love. Not the best album from 2000 but one the best. For fans of country music, give this album a chance as well as people over the fence for the genre.
Grade:95

This album has so many great moments, but I can't help feeling exasperated at what could have been. Astley composed some gorgeous pieces of ambient music. They're interwoven with nature recordings, and some of the animal sounds fit perfectly, but others are simply quite annoying and more or less ruin their tracks. This is what makes it feel like a huge missed opportunity for a masterpiece. It has the same ultra-pastoral vibe of Vashti Bunyan, even though it's a totally different genre. 4/5.

2. Luigii, try this. The popular consensus is that it's among their worst, but I think it's one of their best:
