Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 1% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 82.7/100, a mean average of 81.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 82.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.3.

What happens when the two of the most relaxed and chill genres combine? An undeniably cool album, especially with Stan Getz on sax and João Gilberto singing and plucking those strings away. What I love about these songs is the way Getz takes great care in where and when the notes are placed, an obvious veteran, even by this point. Excellent.

Damn this is the shit, ain't it? Makes me want to sit crossed legged in a smoking gown and smoke smoke some tabs through a cigarette holder.

Classic fusion of Bossa and Jazz that I find so calming and soothing. Definite must-listen.

Essential bossanova classic album featuring American saxophonist Stan Getz and Brazilian guitarist João Gilberto which was incredibly recorded in 2 short days

The standout for me was the sexy vocal performance by Astrud Gilberto (who BTW had never sung professionally prior) who featured on the two tracks "The Girl from Ipanema" and "Corcovado (Quiet Nights of Quiet Stars)"

If you would like to fully appreciate the Bossanova style look no further than this album

Also I'd recommend exploring the life of Stan Getz . He actually lead quite a troubled existence with drug problems , marital issues and at one point fell foul of the law when he robbed a pharmacy for morphine. Fascinating stuff

One relaxing and inviting mix of jazz and samba, empowering the new face of bossa nova, and introducing her sounds to the world. With the wonderful voice and guitar play of João Gilberto, brilliant sax by Stan Gets, and classic compositions by Antônio Carlos Jobim.
