Seasons In The Abyss by Slayer
I was at first like, yeah - this is great. And then I got bored by like the 3rd song. 75. I did like it a bit more than the Reign in Blood album, mostly because that one makes me laugh and this seemed at least like an effort to make decent music.
I chose this album because I hadn't heard any from your list and thought I might enjoy this one the most but I listened to it today as well and nearly totally agree with you...except I will only give it a 7/10.
And Stop Making Sense is an all-time favourite of mine and I think the extended version is even better than the original. Baystate if you get a chance to see the concert film it's totally worth it.
I fell in love with Songs To Learn And Sing back in 2014 (used to be in my overall), and since then, this album has been on my to-do list. Five years later, I finally got around to it via this game. It takes their signature sound to more ornate places, and it's a very solid entry in the post-punk canon. The three tracks from the aforementioned comp are clearly the strongest, and the rest is quite good but not outstanding. Three studio albums in, I have yet to find one I truly adore. 3.5/5.

Iron Maiden by Iron Maiden
I think I've decided why I am not a "true" metal fan. 1) I think Metallica is lyrically and conceptually often way better than other metal. 2) 9 times out of 10, I feel the vocals/lyrics don't match the music... it's typically amazing music followed by mediocre lyrics, but more importantly near crap vocal performances. I'm objectively wrong of course... But it's still the vibe I get when I listen to metal. I'd take the worst lyrics out of nearly any genre and probably metal would take the cake for me. I'm nearly never sold... This is why I like early Black Sabbath... totally sold on that. Anyway, having said all that, this was actually pretty good. 80-85 range.
2. Bay - kinda surprised you aren't digging Ocean Rain, but it's not my favorite of all time or anything either. The next one I'd choose from that is: Come On Pilgrim - Pixies

๐ค I thought it was apparent that I'm digging it, unless we have different definitions of the word. Quite good = digging it to me. I guess the last sentence might be confusing if you read it as my main takeaway (not intended as such). _________________ Join us in the canon game :) / Add me on RYM

Yeah perhaps semantics are at play here. A 3.5 along with "good, but ok" type language led me to believe otherwise. No worries at all. I think we are on the same page and my reaction was a bit too binary. I probably would say I dig the album... yet I only gave it a slight bump to a 4... so no worries. Define "dig" and "good". ๐คฃ๐
I think I also read too much into it used to be in my chart as you grew out of it/it no longer is good... as opposed to I found a lot of albums that were just better, even if you still like it all the same. I'll see myself out now... ๐คฃ

This is one of those albums that I do think this is quite good with the soundscapes this album creates. I would argue that this album is somewhat inspired with post rock. My issue with it would be that I wish there was more stuff going on within these tracks. Maybe it will grow on me a lot more but as of now it is a 75.

I think I got Seth, so he will listen to Miles Davis.

Been playing Yoshi's Crafted World. Man there is so much stuff to get. And the post game packs a challenge. Also kinda want to play a Rhythm Heaven game. I also realized that the DS game is almost a decade old. Damn

Pretty good EP, really nice instrumentally, don't always like Frank Black's songwriting ideas (multiple songs about incest? why?). This is basically my standard response to an acclaimed Pixies release at this point. 3/5.

For hip hop records for this year, I do believe it is good. But it never goes far to have an ambitious sound palette. Also feels somewhat one noted. But for anyone curious, I say try it out. Grade:75
